JUMP Mentoring 2014 Applications Now Open

DEADLINE : 9th September

Applications for JUMP Mentoring have opened, giving artists the opportunity to receive grants of up to $10,000 for individuals and up to $20,000 for groups, providing funds to work on their mentorship, to support additional professional development and for costs towards a creative project developed with their mentor. The program aims to support creative arts practitioners in the first five years of their professional practice, working in an applied mentorship with a mentor of their choice. JUMP is open to artists, music and theatrical producers, writers, editors, and curators in any of the Australia Council supported artforms, including dance, theatre, literature, music, visual arts, emerging and experimental arts and community partnerships.

Could you be a JUMP Mentorship recipient?

Recipients of JUMP should be in the first five years of their professional arts career; recognised by their peers as creating work of high calibre and will have put together a plan that shows they can manage a project and a budget successfully. The pairing with their mentor will show they have thought strategically about the gaps in their knowledge, networks and skills; and their mentor is committed to and excited about working with them.

Who could be your mentor?

Your mentor can be anyone of your choosing, and do not need to have already been involved with the JUMP program. Mentors must demonstrate a clear commitment to your mentorship.

Potential applicants are encouraged to read Getting Connected: Making Your Mentorship Work and THINK BIG – ask themselves: Who are the creative leaders in your field? Who have you always dreamed of working with and learning from?

In 2013, 40 JUMP recipients embarked on a journey with their mentors: widening industry networks across the globe, learning new skills, being creatively challenged by their mentors, and taking their art practice to a new level.
