WHEN : 3rd Nov – 30th Nov
WHERE : Gatakers Artspace, 311 Kent Street, Maryborough, QLD
A unique exhibition of small scale works. Combining an ‘art swap’ amongst the participating artists with works available for sale, there will be 110 art works from 55 contemporary artists.
The artists in Exchange comprise a network of online contacts residing in diverse metropolitan and regional areas around Australia: 12 from Queensland; 11 from NSW; 28 from Victoria; 1 each from Tasmania, WA and SA; while one Qld expat is sending her works from Montpellier in France.
Exchange, has works by 55 emerging and established artists, many of whom have been finalists in such distinguished art prizes as the Doug Moran Portrait Prize, the Sulman Art Prize, the Mosman Art Prize, The Stan and Maureen Duke Art Prize and the Fluerieu Art Prize to name but a few.
The Exchange exhibition consists of two small pieces from each participating artist, one has been ‘exchanged’ with a fellow artist’s work and the other is available for sale to the public. Pushing aesthetic boundaries, visually, conceptually and in the use of materials, the works on display present a wonderful spectrum of creative expression. The paintings, drawings, sculptures, constructions, collages, photographs and digital pieces give ample testimony to the vitality of art in Australian today.
