Outer Space co-director Caity Reynolds spruiked the value of this unique space in Brisbane’s inner city: “Brisbane has needed a space like this for some time, and we’re so excited to be able to do this for the whole community. “Outer Space would not be able to exist without the support of the local art community. We’re excited to have a variety of works from established and emerging artists to be auctioned on the night,” said Reynolds.
Outer Space co-director Llewellyn Millhouse said that the auction is a wonderful way to support the emerging art scene: “Outer Space has been very lucky to receive support from Brisbane City Council to secure the unique warehouse premises in West End. The funds raised from the auction will ensure that we are able to make our exhibition, residency, music and community programs the best they can be,” said Millhouse.
Outer Space Artist Run Initiative is a Brisbane based not-for-profit contemporary art space that promotes education, career development and community engagement within the arts. Since its inception in 2016, Outer Space has endeavoured to promote and support diverse early career and emerging artists. With ongoing support from the Brisbane City Council, Outer Space has expanded to include three gallery spaces, an affordable studio residency program, a regular all-ages live music program, and a community space tailored for alternative avenues of education.
