Talisman

WHEN : 5th - 16th September
WHERE : Webb Gallery, QCA

Humans have spent thousands of years crafting and creating objects. From sharpened rocks to roman antiquities, our history and identity as people has been mapped through the objects we make. How do we define the value of an object? By its material? Function? Historical significance? Monetary value?

Five artists explore the material and making of talismans; jewellery, images and objects imbued with meaning through connections which can’t be measured or quantified. The artists’ works discuss how human beings endeavour to make and understand objects, and explore how an object can be both the product of an individual and the product of an experience or environment.
