The Surrealists designed diverse experiments in their attempts to reach a transcendental state in the creative process. They were investigating the irrational self – freer thought, truer self-image, less regard for their critics and social prejudices.
This project proposes to practice drawing from life models in a life drawing session of approximately 12 hours. This long immersion into life model drawing is intended to be an experiment of the kind conducted by the Surrealists, an attempt to explore a distorted perception of reality due to exhaustion.
The project will provide:
• 10 hours of life modelling drawing
• 2 hours still life during small breaks
• A-frame easels, desk easels.
• Coffee, tea, snacks and fruit available during the session.
• Comfortable space to rest
• Professional critique by Bob Hayward for one participant
