15 Artists is an annual exhibition that commenced in 1997. This exhibition celebrates sixteen years of the exhibition and comprises the winning works that now feature prominently in the Moreton Bay Regional Council Art Collection. This is an exhibition featuring the past winners of the 15 Artists exhibition and competition held annually at the Redcliffe City Art Gallery. Artists include Katarina Vesterberg, Yvonne Mills-Stanley, John Brigden, Kieran Hall, Brian Dean, John Honeywill, Arryn Snowball, Maureen Hansen, Miles Hall, Elizabeth Hobbs, Robert A Brownhall, Bianca Beetson, Linda Smith Penangke, Lincoln Austin and Sophie Bottomley.
The artworks range from views of local areas, such as the Hornibrook Bridge, Redcliffe Jetty and Moreton Bay, to scenes set further away at Beachmere and Woodgate. Some are figurative and realistic in their representation, while others are abstract – yet they may still discuss the socio-political history of the region. Many are discreet at first glance, touching us at a personal level that is hard to fathom – producing feelings before thoughts. All have particular qualities of craft and skill, presenting different views and insights into the particular art medium favoured by the artist: paint, mixed media, textiles, printmaking or sculpture.
