2 Material Research Fellowships

Deadline:

Deadline: June 24

The Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, Netherlands, is now accepting applications for two international research fellowships focused on sustainable and biobased materials within contemporary art and design practice.

Part of the Future Materials programme, the fellowships support environmentally conscious approaches to material research and experimentation, encouraging alternatives to toxic and fossil-based materials commonly used across creative industries.

The two 11-month fellowships include:

  • Fashion & Textile Material Fellowship — supporting projects exploring sustainable and biobased approaches to fashion and textile systems.
  • Future Materials Fellowship — supporting projects developing innovative material processes or alternatives for use across art and design practices.

Successful applicants will work within the Jan van Eyck Academie alongside an international cohort of artists, designers, curators, writers and researchers. Fellows will also gain access to specialised labs, research networks and industry partners focused on circular and sustainable material innovation.

The fellowship includes:

  • Private studio apartment in Maastricht
  • €1,750 monthly stipend
  • €2,250 annual working budget
  • Access to research labs, advisers and public programs

Applicants from Australia, including Brisbane-based artists and designers, are eligible to apply. Selected fellows are required to reside in Maastricht during the fellowship period.
