Heartbreak and triumph, jubilation and devastation: it’s all on show at the Nikon-Walkley Press Photography Exhibition, featuring works by Australia’s most outstanding photojournalists.
In 2014 over 2000 photographs were considered for selection in the Nikon-Walkley Awards for Excellence in Photojournalism – the pinnacle of achievement for Australian press photographers judged by industry experts and awarded at the end of each year. After the awards, an exhibition of finalists’ and winners’ work hits the road to showcase the outstanding moments in sports, daily life and news reportage captured over the past 12 months.
Photos include stunning action shots from Michael Carberry’s bat breaking during the 2014 Ashes; touching imagery from hospitals in Afghanistan; essays on life in regional Queensland, the “Bondi Biffo” between James Packer and David Gyngell and fly-on-thewall insight into conflict in Syria.
