We are currently seeking proposals for our inaugural fashion exhibitions program happening in 2017. Born out of a lack of spaces in Brisbane for fashion practitioners to show work outside of blockbuster exhibition spaces or commercial showcases, our exhibition program is based on the foundations of public engagement, rigour and experimental practice. It seeks to allow spaces for fashion practitioners to explore ideas and showcase these in a non commercial context, allowing for public engagement with fashion in an inclusive and creative way.
We are open to varied proposals for work either in or surrounding fashion.
This can include, but is not limited to:
– Fashion design practice
– Fashion curatorial practice
– Fashion workshops and cultural programs
– Fashion related work in alternative creative practices
Proposals are to be one A4 page, with further documentation on request after shortlist process.
Proposal are Due: 30/11/16:

About us:
The Stitchery Collective is a Brisbane based initiative run by a group of fashion practitioners, academics and best buds.
We share a common feeling that fashion can be joyous, meaningful, accountable, beautiful and sustainable all at once. We ask the question, is fashion just pretty clothes for pretty people? Or is it more than that?
Our installations, workshops and collaboratively designed pattern collections challenge the standard fashion concept of the separation between fashion and the consumer, exploring how fashion can engage with you, and how you can engage with fashion – but always with the same ethos – connecting joyfully through clothes.
