2023 Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize

Deadline:

Deadline: May 28, 2023

Entries for the 2023 Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize are now open and close on Wednesday 15 February 2023, at 12:00 p.m. (midday Daylight Saving Time Eastern Australia).

Established in 2017 to promote art and opportunities for both emerging and established women artists in Australia, the Art Prize has seen exponential growth in entries each year since its inception, with entries double the entries received for the Archibald Prize.

It is Australia’s most valuable art competition for women artists, with over $45,000 in prize money across four categories:

  • $35,000 Professional Artist Prize
  • $5,000 Indigenous Emerging Artist Prize.
  • $5,000 Emerging Artist Prize
  • And a $2,000 People’s Choice Award

The Indigenous Emerging Artist Prize is the only art prize in Australia dedicated to indigenous women artists.

“As a School, we are extremely proud to be hosting and overseeing the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize. This prize reflects the School’s passion and commitment to women’s education and empowerment,” said Mrs Anne Johnstone, Principal at Ravenswood School For Girls.

“This generous art prize is our contribution to advance Australia’s talented women artists, providing them with greater opportunities for recognition and career development. We believe it will enhance the visibility and significance of art careers for current and emerging Australian women artists, and hopefully inspire future generations of artists as well.”

Entries to the Art Prize may be in any media and must best reflect the intentions of the artist’s practice.
