SGAR is excited to announce we are hosting a summer residency program in the gallery with Brisbane artists Dana Lawrie and James Barth. The intensive month long studio residency will culminate in a group exhibition opening February 27.
Lawrie and Barth explore notions of the physical body and self in paint. Both artists are figurative oil painters that employ self portraiture as an exploration of the human form and self. The exhibition will explore a dichotomy of gesture as the human bodies movement and as a process of paint to surface.
