Queensland Faces is a survey of varied, unique portraits from SLQ collections across time and cultures seeking to uncover the stories and lives of Queenslanders.
Take a closer look at the people who make this state. Some subjects are famous (or infamous) though most are everyday people whose portraits, for some reason or another, have made their way into State Library’s vast collections.
Through their photographs, explore connections between people, place and culture. Ask yourself what it means to be a Queenslander, examine our connection to place and discover how our diverse cultural traditions contribute to Queensland’s growing identity.
Both a contemporary and retrospective showcase, this exhibition tells stories you may not know about Queenslanders’ cultural diversity, and displays some of the iconic images that capture the Queensland spirit.
