Refrain/Reprise is an exhibition showcasing Brooke Ferguson’s abstract drawings on paper that use chance based strategies and simple everyday objects to form the basis of the compositions. The works form part of an ongoing series that explore drawing as inscription, notation, and score. Accompanying these works will be Scott Ferguson Volume 1, a vinyl record featuring collaborative experiments of live performance, music, and spoken work by Brooke Ferguson and Erika Scott (Scott Ferguson). The record will be available to be listened to in the gallery over the course of the exhibition.
Brooke Ferguson is the recipient of the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art’s 2015 Melville Haysom Memorial Art Scholarship. This project is supported by funds provided by the scholarship. Designed to promote, encourage and advance the development of visual arts in Queensland, the Melville Haysom Memorial Art Scholarship is offered annually to artists and art students aged 25 years or under.
