YOUR SPACE OR MINE

Deadline:

Boxcopy ARI

YOUR SPACE OR MINE  brings together contemporary spaces from across the Asia Pacific region, with contributions from Art Space Pool (Seoul), Sa Sa Art Projects (Phnom Penh) and Videotage (Hong Kong). This group exhibition explores a collaborative curatorial process, with each of the participating spaces selecting one artist or project. In this way the exhibition at Boxcopy in Brisbane becomes an open-ended format for connections and dialogues to unfold over distance.

Like many small organizations Boxcopy is negotiating the challenges of the local political and economic climate, and this project takes as its starting point the provocation that ‘small acts of resistance can create change.’  How can grass roots, local artist-run or independent spaces offer a space for dialogue and open up new ways of thinking and doing?

This project extends on the Summer School series at Boxcopy, which explores creative pedagogical approaches to art making – artists who engage with ideas and practices of experimental pedagogies and explore the social, dialogic or participatory contexts of learning and idea exchange.
