Deadline:

WHEN : 23rd July – 18th Aug
WHERE : Brisbane Powerhouse

The Central Queensland Project is a photographic exploration of a largely invisible but economically powerful region.

Given the complexity of the modern economy and the insularity of city life, most of us are blind to the reality of life beyond the city limits. Initially drawn to the unique visual characteristics of the region (cane fields, minescapes, impeccable suburban tropical lawns, and the breathtaking vastness of the land), the photographers also noticed something else–a place, it seemed, very much in transition. As always there is a generational change taking place, but is there also an ideological one?

Produced by Kelly Hussey-Smith & Alan Hill. Kelly Hussey-Smith and Alan Hill are Brisbane-based photographic practitioners who work both independently and collaboratively, seeking to tell stories of the human experience.
