Grace Kevill-Davies: Venus

Deadline:

FAKE estate

Investigating perceptions of ideal beauty and femininity, ~VENUS~ aims to reconsider representations of female purity and perfection in popularised western art and film. Kevill-Davies uses humour as a vehicle to challenge the illusion of feminine perfection and mythology, toying with the viewers’ sense of reality through digital manipulation and scale distortion.

Kevill-Davies creates staged environments assembled from found objects. By exploring processes of play and chance, common cinematic tropes are manipulated using a combination of digital media, sculpture and readymade objects. Kevill-Davies holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (honours) from Queensland University of Technology (2013). She has exhibited in group exhibitions throughout brisbane such as ‘Brisbane Experimental Art Festival’ at Judith Wright centre of contemporary arts (2014), and ‘earth, fire, wind’ at Boxcopy (2014). She has held one solo show at Inhouse Ari (2014).

Fake Estate Address: 41 Latrobe Street, East Brisbane.
