Collaboration by way of the artist run initiative and the art collective is a mainstay of Brisbane’s art community. Increasingly, local artists, writers and curators are joining forces to provide stimulating and supportive relationships, in which contemporary art practices flourish. For the next event in the Weekender series, Boxcopy is working together with their art neighbours to get out of the gallery and into the streets, to find out just what it is that makes collaboration in this city ‘so different, so appealing’.
Running Friday 10 – Sunday 12 May 2013, Offsite will bring together five local artist run initiatives and collectives, who will present interventions and projects in various locations in Brisbane’s CBD. The Boxcopy gallery space will serve as a headquarters for visitors to collect maps and information about the weekend’s activities. The launch event will be at Boxcopy on Friday 10 May from 7pm with drinks and ‘Tag Team’: a running discussion between the participating ARIs and collectives.
