Addition #4 features five artists whose work is united by it’s emphasis on humour. While their processes and themes vary, comic tropes of irony, parody and absurdity are the staples of their particular critical perspectives. Whether slapping together crude drawings and crass slogans or drawing out a dark humour in everyday observations – these artists all capitalise on comic relief to undercut the otherwise seriousness of the art world. In this way, this show reveals an important aspect of humour in tackling the intense conceptual hurdles of the day without becoming too high-minded, idealistic or dogmatic. They just don’t take anything too serious, so what would happen if you put all the class clowns together?
Artists include: Jack Rodgers, Jessica Quinn, Dominic Reidy, Anna Carluccio, James Hale.
