Continuing our commitment to supporting local emerging arts practice, Spiro Grace Art Rooms (SGAR) is excited to announce our gallery will reopen for 2017 on February 18 with Around, a group exhibition developed by Lisa Bryan-Brown during an intensive, one-month curatorial residency over our summer closure.
Around considers the relationship between the dual concerns of minimal abstraction and materiality in the practices of Madeleine Keinonen, Alice Nelson, and Rachael Wellisch. Each of these three artists employs process-driven mediums, creating seductive installations of works that explore elusive conceptual territory. Keinonen, Nelson, and Wellisch each utilise an appealing combination of formalist and organic aesthetic approaches to create pieces that contemplate issues of fluidity and substance.
