Supporter features works by Peter Bruce Booth, Joseph Briekers, Helen Rogers, Nick Drake, Kylie Spears, David Creed, Angela Rossitto and Sarah Werkmeister.
This exhibition acknowledges the various types of ‘support’ that exist within the arts community and in galleries. Supporter literally takes place around a timber frame. Previously a wall, the ‘supporter’ is a leftover from a Wandering Room exhibition at South Bank in 2010. Seeing potential in this frame as an interesting object and as a possible new art space, Wandering Room members enlisted help from a few friends and walked the massive thing back to their home. At this new venue, The Box, this scaffolding becomes both a means of hanging an exhibition and an object in dialogue with other artworks, and questions what might constitute a space for an artist?
