Small Lakes, in conjunction with BARI Festival, will be presenting Red Fives an exhibition of works and performances that explore sound, light and movement.

Art installations, new media and object works, and an experimental noise duo will take over Judith Wright Centre Shopfront on Brunswick St in the Valley for the opening night of BARI Festival 2012.

Self-proclaimed purveyors of ‘doom sexy’, The Scrapes – a duo consisting of feedback-drenched guitar and scraping violin – will be playing alongsideThe Squid Thing a sound-sensitive light installation by Ketpis (Michael Candy, James Kellogg Knight & Richard Candy).

Also on display will be a site-responsive installation work by Mi_ke and James Millerthat turns light into sound and visuals, a sculpture by Zoe Mary and Matt Lockwood, and a projection work by Ryan Fraser.

Small Lakes is a Brisbane-based collective of young creatives interested in cross-artform events and projects.

BARI Festival is a celebration of Brisbane Artist-Run Initiatives (ARIs) – independent arts collectives that provide an alternative to established arts institutions. Small Lakes was invited by BARI Festival to curate the opening night for BARI Festival, which runs from 5-12 October.
