TWFINEART is pleased to announce the opening of Same Hero, New Boots by Jonni Cheatwood.
Born in California, USA in 1986, Brazilian-American artist, Jonni Cheatwood currently lives and works in Los Angeles. He began painting while studying secondary education and film & media production at Arizona State University.
Cheatwood describes his paintings as ‘Scumbags’, an amalgamation of painterly marks and found objects applied to various fabrics such as canvas, denim, and burlap, which are then collaged and stitched together. Older paintings are revisited and reworked, destroyed and remade. Akin to the physicality of the works, Cheatwood intertwines techniques and ideologies from Abstract Expressionism, Surrealism, and Conceptual art, resulting in work that feels both familiar and brand new.
Following a strong presence at Scope Miami featured on Hype Beast, Cheatwood is heading down under for the first time to join us for the opening of Same Hero, New Boots. With upcoming shows at Saatchi, BEERS London, and Makasiini Contemporary in Finland, Same Hero, New Boots is not to be missed!
