SOFT BLOW brings together new works by Kozak and Manning who both use everyday materials to explore complex emotional states and experiences. Using video and kinetic sculpture, the exhibition examines the potential for each works’ affection of the other through installation and sensory invasion.

PETER KOZAK  is a Brisbane based artist who works primarily in video installation. Focusing on objects and phenomena that are often overlooked, his works seek to draw connections between their material qualities with human experiences. Graduating from the Queensland College of Art with First Class Honours in 2017, he has exhibited extensively in Queensland, including solo shows at Outer Space (2016), The Hold Artspace (2015) and A-CH Gallery (2014), as well as interstate as part of the Footscray Art Prize (Melbourne, 2017).

AISHLA MANNING is an interdisciplinary artist and the founder of the Laundry Artspace, an Artist Run Initiative in Brisbane. Aishla works predominantly with time-based media and assembled objects to explore the tensions and absurdity of the everyday. She has exhibited extensively in Queensland, including at CLUTCH X Outer Space (2017), The Institute of Modern Art’s Green Screen (2016), as well as interstate at Testing Grounds (Melbourne, 2017), Gaffa Gallery (Sydney, 2017), Bus Projects (Melbourne, 2016) and Feltspace’s Feltdark (Adelaide, 2016).
