Ben Ely & Brian Graydon : Exhibition Launch

Deadline:

WHEN : 5th July – 29 July
WHERE : Lust for Life

Two creative friends – Regurgitator’s Ben Ely and Korpus’ Brian Graydon – have joined forces for a showing of their works, entitled ‘Game Over‘ and ‘Hateful But Shy’ respectively.

Ely and Graydon worked on band posters and t-shirt designs together before their respective careers got in the way, and they are back together to put on this cracker show.

Bouncing from the inspired visual direction demonstrated on the most recent Regurgitator album SuperHappyFuntimesFriends, Ely has assembled for ‘Game Over’ a collection of painting provoked by his love of old-school video and board games.Ely says, ”I guess the idea is that we as humans play many different games with ourselves through our careers and hobbies, and then others through our relationships and lovers as we navigate our way through this world.”

Brian Graydon is an owner of Melbourne tattoo studio Korpus. As an artist his primary medium is tattoo, though he’s known to make forays into decoupage, plaster of paris egg decoration, quilting and for this exhibition, watercolour painting.

‘Hateful But Shy’ is collection of works largely centering around the travails of a lone protagonist in a variety of archetypal situations. Lust, fear, hatred, confusion; there’s something for everyone on this emotional, inhalant-driven rollercoaster.

Lust for Life proudly presents Ben Ely ‘Game Over’ & Brian Graydon ‘Hateful But Shy’ exhibition launch throughout July 2012. The exhibition launches on Thursday 5 July from 7pm – 9pm at Lust For Life located at 176 Wickham St, Fortitude Valley.
