Slowly, Subtly is an exhibition of paintings by two emerging artists, Laura Horrocks and Rachel Farlow, whose work embodies the materiality of the ephemeral through dynamic use of colour, line and form.

Each painting holds within it a visual tension between the familiar and unfamiliar, and between form and formlessness. Horrocks explores the idea of things falling together and coming apart, while Farlow creates a passage to push beyond pictorial definitions to communicate the experience of time and memory.

Together, these works emphasise a slowness in looking that triggers awareness in the subtle sensibility of everyday experience.
