Rivers of Gold

Deadline:

Project Gallery, QCA

Rivers of Gold is an International Print Portfolio and Exchange 2017-2020: An Art- Science Collaborative Project.

The exhibition showcases a diverse range of prints by professional printmakers who have interpreted the theme Rivers of Gold.

The project is associated with new research underway by Professor Susan Lawrence, La Trobe University Melbourne and Professor Mark Macklin (University of Lincoln). Jude Macklin has co-ordinated the art – science program focusing on printing and printmaking to facilitate community engagement.

Many prints in the 40-print portfolio reference the history and technical developments of gold mining and its environmental and cultural impact. Others focus on re-contextualised myths and legends or contemporary gold issues. The printing techniques employed include lithography, woodcut, linocut, dry point, etching and photo polymer prints.

This collaborative project involves four printmaking groups: the Aberystwyth Printmakers Wales (organiser Jude Macklin); Goldfields Printmakers, Victoria (organiser James Pasakos); Print Council Aotearoa New Zealand (PCANZ) (organiser Kathy Boyle); Queensland College of Art, Brisbane (organiser Jennifer Stuerzl).

Opening Event: Friday, 30 November. 6pm – 8pm
Exhibition Hours: Tuesday to Saturday: 10am – 4pm
Where: Project Gallery, 226 Grey Street, Southbank 4101
