PAA XIII International Symposium
March 24, 2019 @ 9:00 am - March 28, 2019 @ 5:00 pm
Registration is now open for the Pacific Arts Association XIII International Symposium.
The symposium is hosted by Queensland Museum, along with our Cultural Precinct partners: State Library of Queensland, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre and Queensland Art Gallery I Gallery of Modern Art.
Queensland Museum is excited to be a part of bringing the Symposium to Australia for the first time since 1993. Speakers from around the world will be coming to share their knowledge, experience, art and performances.
The theme of ‘RESILIENCE: sustaining, re-activating and connecting culture’ acknowledges the strength of Pacific contemporary art and cultural production in maintaining, reviving, and connecting Indigenous cultural practices on a global stage.
The Pacific Arts Association XIII International Symposium will come together on the lands of the Yugerra and Turrbal Peoples and meet near the Maiwar (the river) on Kurilpa Point, the place of the water rat. Participants will create a Respectful Place to engage with one another, exchange ideas and explore the major theme for the symposium, RESILIENCE.
We look forward to seeing you. Please visit our website for more information and to register.
