Cinémathèque at GOMA

Deadline:

Gallery of Modern Art

The Australian Cinémathèque at GOMA provides an ongoing program of film and video that you’re unlikely to see elsewhere. Screenings take place Wednesday and Friday nights and Saturday and Sundays matinees. We offer a rich and diverse experience of the moving image, showcasing the work of influential filmmakers and international cinema, rare 35mm prints, recent restorations and silent films with live musical accompaniment. Read more on the QAGOMA Blog

For newcomers to the Cinémathèque here’s a map and information to help you find your way.

Most screenings are free; however for ticketed film programs the Cinémathèque Box Office opens one hour prior to screenings and you are able to purchase snacks and refreshments during this time. You are more than welcome to take your drinks into the cinema. As we do not screen trailers prior to films we suggest you arrive early to allow plenty of time to enter and find a seat.

Keep your eye on our Events Calendar for special events to broaden your cinema experience. To stay up to date with all that’s happening at the Australian Cinémathèque, register to receive Cinemail in the QAGOMA eNews sign up below.

QAGOMA is the only Australian art gallery with purpose-built facilities dedicated to film and the moving image. The Australian Cinémathèque is an Associate Member of the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF), an organisation of the world’s leading film archives dedicated to the preservation and exhibition of film.
