luciana smith: mortadella moments

luciana smith is a sydney-based artist. drawing from her own observations and a range of pop culture and internet references, she twists her subjects into a fictional world that exists between the real and imagined. her colourful scenes create a new and idiosyncratic narrative for human behaviour and environments, through painting she notes, and zooms in on, the humour of day-to-day life. her work is a collection of opportunistic snapshots that recontextualise their subjects by marrying candid, fleeting gestures with found imagery. smith has exhibited at the arts inn florence, florence; saint cloche gallery, sydney; and dungog contemporary, dungog. she was a finalist in the waverley art prize in 2017 and 2018. her work is held in private collections in australia and internationally.

charlie hillhouse: untitled (roadside trees)

charlie hillhouse is an australian based image-maker who works across film, photography and the printed form. his practice is informed by a passion to explore the everyday and finding new ways to document modern society. accidental sculptural shapes and readings are common motifs which hillhouse discovers when he sets out to capture the interaction between static infrastructure, human behaviour and the adaptability of nature. hillhouse holds a bachelor of photography from the queensland college of art griffith university. he has exhibited at a-ch gallery, brisbane; outer space ari brisbane; bus projects, melbourne; and queensland centre for photography, brisbane; and internationally. hillhouse established small house books in 2010 and romantic press in 2014, producing limited edition publications and printed material showcasing the work of image-based artists.
