WHAT : Call For Entries
DEADLINE : 11th May
2012 is a momentous year for ‘the churchie’. It marks 25 years of showcasing new and emerging artists from around Australia since the award was first held by the Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) in 1987 in Brisbane. Since then the prize money has tripled and today the overall winner of this non-acquisitive emerging art competition receives a cash prize of $15,000.
Eligible entrants in ‘the churchie’ are emerging artists with or without specialised training in their field and who are at an early stage of their career. They can come from just about anywhere, be any age over 18 years and may not even have studied at an art college.
Entrants for the 2012 award can submit up to three works completed in the 12 months prior to 5 March 2012, for an entry fee of $35.
Entries close on May 11 and pre-selection is on May 28. The exhibition of finalists opens on 13 July and the winner is announced on July 27.
To enter ‘the churchie’, emerging artists need simply to register their application and upload images of their artwork online at www.churchieemergingart.com
