Susan Gourley & Cosima Scales: Form and Function

Deadline:

STABLE

Form and Function considers everyday objects through sculpture and painting. To make her ‘tools for regeneration’, Susan Gourley joins the handles of discarded garden tools with meticulous replicas of native Australian plants that she makes using found materials. While Cosima Scales’ paintings are frank depictions of utilitarian and domestic objects. Displayed together the works invite close observation of both subject and form—how a piece of cardboard mimics the creamy underside of a banksia leaf, or the way a lick of paint describes string unwinding from the spool.
