Shannon Garson

Deadline:

16 July
-
July 31
Mas and Miek Ceramic House

Mas and Miek Ceramic House is excited to host Shannon Garson in her first solo show in Brisbane in over a decade.

Shannon Garson is known for her thrown porcelain vessels decorated with intricate drawings exploring the relationship between domestic forms and the infinite variety of striations, spots, and marks found in nature. Intense observation and drawings of the rainforest and the river’s edge underpin her entire work, consistently exploring the boundaries of what it is to be human in this shimmering, changeable, dazzling, world. Shannon’s interest in endangered ecosystems has led her to make work about wallum swamps, the sclerophyll forest of South East Qld, endangered (and beautifully common!) birds and the fungi of the sub-tropical rainforest.

Shannon Garson is an Australian ceramic artist, writer and curator with a studio practice spanning 20 years that includes commissions for festivals, exhibitions at public and private galleries, and arts advocacy. This exhibition will showcase Shannon’s exhibition work alongside a new collection of her handmade tableware, she works with Australian porcelain.

Exhibition Opening: Saturday, July 16th 4:30-6:30 at Mas and Miek Ceramic House
