Do we take the L and move on, or do we use this opportunity to learn and change our approach to earn a win? L in the chat, internet terminology referring to the word lose / loss, aims to explore how emphasising the feminine in contemporary installation art can disrupt the masculine conventions of minimalist sculpture. This series as a whole is a continuation of Renee Kire’s ongoing investigation into the historical gender gap. By recognising overlooked female artists within the art world, Kire aims to use her platform to bring awareness to the gender gap which is still current today.
The project aims to attract attention to female minimalist artists who continue to have their stories overshadowed by their male counterparts.
