27 November
The Paint Factory

Kenzee Patterson invites you to an open studio and exhibition of two new major artworks  Fountain (2022) and Seven Sleepers (2022), created during his three-year period of residence  in Meanjin/Brisbane. On the site of the old Taubmans paint factory in Brisbane’s inner south,  this one-off event spans two locations at The Paint Factory, home to Brisbane’s  contemporary art community.

The first location is Kenzee’s art studio, situated within the old Maintenance Workshop. Hear  about Kenzee’s unique process of painting with ultrasonic diffusers to create luminous works  on paper using clouds of ink. Continue via a short walk to the old Manufacturing Room to see Seven Sleepers and  Fountain. Seven Sleepers is an impressive new work containing close to one hundred diffuser  paintings on handmade paper, laid out across the tops of reclaimed timber railway sleepers. Accompanying this piece is Fountain, a mass gathering of breathing sculptural assemblages  made from salvaged car exhaust pipes, reclaimed timber railway sleepers, and the artist’s  custom electronics.

The Paint Factory is a unique environment to present Kenzee’s new works and to discuss the  research that has informed the artist’s methodology, material experimentation and sustained  interest in language.

“Language, enacting language, is a framework to produce painting and sculpture. For  instance, the Latin root of the word ‘exhaustion’ means “to draw up, as in water”. Exhaustion  is the primary focus of these new works,” Kenzee says.

Sunday 27 November, 3:00pm–5:00pm. Free entry
The Paint Factory, 115 Hyde Road, Yeronga QLD 4104
