“What happens when a group of female artists, shaping clay and colour downstairs, are inspired by a gallery upstairs, changing, evolving and breathing around them?”
Above & Below brings together twelve artists — Bronwyn Thomson, Catherine Aboud, Deb Toohey, Glenys Throssell, Hannah Wilkins, Hazel McNamara, Larissa Miller, Mari McGuire, Michelle Ehmann, Natalie Bergin, Terri Balkin, and Tina Wilkins — in a dynamic group exhibition exploring the interplay between material process and shared creative space.
This exhibition reflects the lived rhythm of making: how dialogue, curiosity, and community flow between artists working “below,” shaping tactile forms, and those exhibiting “above,” where ideas are made visible. Across ceramics, mixed media, and painting, Above & Below captures a conversation between ground and sky, material and imagination — a meditation on collaboration and transformation.
All proceeds from the Opening Night will be donated to Dangerous Females, a Brisbane-based charity dedicated to combating violence against women and gender-diverse individuals.
