The Mandorla Art Award is Australia’s most significant thematic Christian art prize, attracting some of the nation’s finest artists since its inception in 1985. Held every two years, the award invites artists to create contemporary fine art in conversation with a Biblical text — contributing to the cultural and spiritual life of Australia.
With a total $63,000 prize pool, the Mandorla Art Award offers:
Major Acquisitive Prize – $30,000
New Norcia Artist Residency Prize – $10,000
Emerging Artist Prize – $7,000
The 2026 theme invites artists to explore the question:
“What is Truth?”
‘I was afraid, because I was naked: and I hid myself.’
Open to all professional and emerging Australian artists working in any medium, the Mandorla Art Award continues to provide a space where faith and creativity intersect in bold, thought-provoking ways.
