Deadline: 25 February

Queensland Figurative is a non-acquisitive art competition that celebrates the dynamic and expressive role of the human figure in contemporary visual art. Open exclusively to artists residing in Queensland, the competition focuses on paintings in which the human form is not simply present, but integral to the overall composition of the work.

Artists are encouraged to submit works that explore the figure through literal representation or abstract interpretation, provided the human form remains a clear and meaningful element within the artwork.

As part of the selection criteria, artists must include a brief description of the medium and techniques used to create the submitted artwork.

The 2026 Queensland Figurative will be judged by Julie Fragar, winner of the 2025 Archibald Prize, bringing significant national recognition and expertise to this year’s judging panel.
