As part of the prize for winning the Mervyn Moriarty Landscape Award at the 2025 Queensland Regional Art Awards, Jonathon Westacott presents a two-week solo exhibition at Flying Arts Alliance.
Westacott’s practice explores the subtleties of landscape through a close attention to form and colour, alongside a curiosity for what is not immediately visible within a place. His work reflects a growing concern for diminishing wilderness, sharing a sense of awe and responsibility toward the natural world.
Working with glass, Westacott preserves and reimagines landscapes through a material that captures memory, experience, and emotion across time. The medium’s durability and complexity mirror the resilience and fragility of the environments he represents.
