Join chapter for an artist talk with Simon Cutler, presented in conversation with curator Felix Reid.
The discussion offers an opportunity to hear directly from Cutler about his first solo exhibition, Afterimage, and to gain insight into his inspirations, process and approach to painting.
Afterimage explores the malleability of memory and the way images shift as they are viewed, remembered and represented. Across eight large-scale paintings, Cutler challenges the rapid production and consumption of images in contemporary society, inviting audiences to pause and look closely as memories gradually emerge.
Simon Cutler is a Magandjin/Brisbane-based artist whose practice examines the relationships between representation, subject and context through painting and drawing.
