Coping Mechanisms explores the messy beauty of the human experience through contemporary woven vessels by Monique Ross. Working with colour, texture, form and scale, Ross pushes the boundaries of basketry to explore feelings including anxiety, self-doubt, anger and despair alongside love, joy and hope.
The exhibition considers the things that wear us down, the things that help us through and the things that bind us together, inviting audiences to reflect on what sustains them and how seemingly small things can accumulate into something meaningful.
