Maitland City Council is inviting artists to develop a site- and community-responsive artwork for Maitland Railway Station.
The commission forms part of the Next Stop: Maitland project, which aims to make Maitland Station and its surrounding area safer, more vibrant and welcoming.
The selected artwork will transform the covered pedestrian walkway connecting the bus interchange and railway station entry into an immersive public art experience.
The artwork must be suitable for digitisation and printing onto custom ceiling panels. These panels will form part of an illuminated ceiling designed to create a distinctive “light tunnel” effect for commuters, visitors and residents.
The project is funded by Transport for NSW through the reVITALise – Public Transport Precinct Vibrancy Grant.
