REDSEA Gallery

With inspiration taken from his recent adventures of Brisbane and its local beach scene, Craig Penny’s current body of work proves both this unbridled skill and integrity.

Penny’s artistic career continues to rise after a solid fifteen years of international exhibitions and awards, and this solo exhibition at REDSEA will highlight the pinnacle of his progress thus far. With free-form views of the sea, landscape and city, Penny’s light touch prioritizes evoking mood before design. The works in this solo exhibition arouse senses beyond the mere visual as we are transported within Penny’s serene worlds, and are left to scrunch our toes in the sand.

Born in Mildura in 1961, Craig Penny studied Art at the Ballarat College of Advanced Education, now Ballarat University, where Painting and Graphic Design attracted most of his attention. Penny pursued a successful career as an illustrator in the Advertising Industry and became a member of the Illustrator’s Association of Australia.

Penny’s career has progressed into a range of mediums.  He had a successful career in teaching both traditional drawing and illustration at Victoria University and digital drawing and illustration at Swinburne University. Throughout this time, he never lost his love of using traditional methods and subsequently specialized in water colours, acrylic painting and illustrations.

In the past fifteen years Penny has held sixteen solo shows both nationally and internationally as well as being part scores of joint exhibitions. He is currently also represented galleries in the USA and Singapore.
