SafARI is now calling for submissions from artists, collectives, and/or groups working across Australia to be considered for SafARI 2016.
SafARI is the unofficial fringe exhibition to the Biennale of Sydney, which showcases the work of emerging and unrepresented Australian artists. It is a ‘zeitgeist’ driven festival timed to coincide with the crucial first opening weeks of the Biennale of Sydney.
SafARI 2016 will be curated by Sophie Kitson and Louise Dibben; who aim to incorporate the many social art-making, online, digital, and performative practices that exist in contemporary Australia. SafARI 2016 will be presented via multiple venues and platforms and is open to helping facilitate all kinds of applications. We are interested in everything from sound and performance, to fashion, installation, and painting. Everything – try us!
SafARI 2016 will be the first SafARI with an online venue and we are excited to be able to facilitate artists who may want to work in an online or digital context.
SafARI welcomes proposals from artists across all practices.
To be considered, please submit an application that includes:
– An artist/group statement (max 300 words)
– A proposal of artworks/projects for safARI 2016 (max 300 words)
– Your intended method of presentation (ie. gallery/online) (max 100 words)
– Maximum of 10 images and/or footage (or links to these)
