‘GOMA Q’ is the first in a series that will profile the innovations and achievements of leading Queensland visual artists.

The exhibition will profile more than 30 emerging, mid-career and senior artists working across the spectrum of themes and media and will reflect the dynamic character of Queensland art today.

 

OPENING WEEKEND EVENT – Saturday, 11th July, 10:00am – 5:00pm

10am | Performance: Clark Beaumont | River Room
Participate in an intimate moment with artists Clark Beaumont in their live participatory performance, ‘Joy Ride’

12.30pm | State Of Play Panel Discussion | Cinema B
Jason Smith, Curatorial Manager, Australian Art, and Bruce McLean, Associate Curator, Indigenous Australian Art are joined in conversation by Justin Bishop, Director, KickArts Contemporary Arts, and Sally Butler, Lecturer, Art History, The University of Queensland to discuss some of the issues and considerations around the current state of art in Queensland.

2pm | Artist Walking Tour | Exhibition space
Join Peter McKay, Curator, Contemporary Australian Art, and Bruce McLean, Associate Curator, Indigenous Australian Art, for a tour of the exhibition highlighting artists along the way. Artists include Teho Ropeyarn, Ross Manning, Antoinette J Citizen and Madeleine Kelly.

3.30pm | Emerging Artist Panel Discussion | Cinema B
Channon Goodwin, Director of BUS Projects, Melbourne and former Founding Co-Director and Chair of the board of Boxcopy, Brisbane hosts a panel of young and emerging ‘GOMA Q’ artists, discussing their works in the exhibition as well as their experience of being an emerging artists, currently, in Queensland. Artists include Clark Beaumont, Sam Cranstoun, Dale Harding, Naomi Hobson and Anita Holtsclaw.
