Adorn examines the motivating factors behind the selection of objects used to adorn oneself and what these objects reveal about ourselves. The objects in this exhibition defy the phenomenon of fast fashion and relentless consumption; their importance lingers.
Ten selectors have been invited to present objects they use to adorn themselves and their surroundings. Through selection these objects are imbued with importance and reveal information about the personalities, interests and personal histories of each selector. These objects vary in value, craftsmanship and materials but all hold special meaning for each participant. Through the selectors’ choices ten unique ways of seeing and experiencing the world will be revealed.
Adorn features the personal stories and stylings of Bianca Bulley, Mel Brady, Elisa Jane Carmichael, Deborah Fisher, Andrea Higgins, Elizabeth Kingston, Bianca Mavrick, Cynthia Morton, Grace Oryem, Kaye Parish.
Exhibition developed by Moreton Bay Regional Council.
