Adorned Narratives

Deadline:

Redland Art Gallery

Not all stories are told through written or spoken words. Since the beginning of time, humans have used their bodies to convey personal narratives, commemorate significant events, and express specific emotions and beliefs. Decorating our bodies with adornments, clothing and tattoos can distinguish our individuality; define our cultural, social or religious positions; and mark our personal stories.

This exhibition brings together artists from diverse cultural backgrounds that use
bodies as a canvas to creatively express narratives. It explores the way that people decorate and use their bodies to tell stories, be it through fashion, tattoos or adornments.

Curated by Danielle Harvey.
