Deadline:1 July

AiRSpace is our new name for the Southern Midlands Artist in Residence program. Formerly located in the old Oatlands Gaoler’s Residence, our A-i-R program has a new home at 79 High Street Oatlands, Tasmania. Oatlands is one of the most iconic heritage town in Tasmania and located roughly halfway between Hobart and Launceston. Accommodation consists of a self-contained sandstone cottage and Victorian shopfront which makes an ideal workspace and exhibition space.

There is no charge for participants in our program; instead, we ask that Artists in Residence donate an artwork from their residency to the Council, and be present two days/week in the shopfront to allow for community interaction. Artists are also encouraged to exhibit their work in the AIRspace at the end of their residency. In return, we provide free accommodation and workspace for up to a month, and whatever in-kind support might be needed to make your residency successful.

Previous Artists in Residence have ranged from landscape artists to novelists, portrait painters and photographers. Applications are welcome from any arts discipline.
