Photographer and filmmaker Alana Potts reflects on growing up in Byron Bay through a new series of analogue photographs, Salty. Unedited and raw, the photographs exuding youthful recklessness and freedom, set to the backdrop of the north coast New South Wales bush.
Salty is summer on film – salt, sand and surf. Potts took to the road to document her homeland. Through raw and grainy single and double exposures in colour and black and white, Potts captures barron beaches and wind-whipped headlands in the saturated aesthetic of ‘60s and ‘70s surf movies.
In tandem to the photographs, Potts presents STILL MOTION, an original surf film that documents her road trip.
