PARKER Contemporary presents Filtered Light, a solo exhibition of new work by Brisbane-based artist Alethea Richter.
Blurring the boundaries between digital imagery and handcrafted process, Richter transforms pixel-like forms into intricately woven silkscreen works. Built through meticulous layers of hand-pulled print, cut paper and woven surfaces, the works explore how light, technology and materiality shape the way we see and interpret images.
By translating digital language into tactile objects, Filtered Light slows the act of looking, inviting viewers to experience shifting gradients, layered textures and subtle interruptions that reveal the physical processes behind image-making.
Richter’s practice has received significant national recognition, including the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Emerging Artist Prize (2023), Best in Show at the Ipswich Art Awards (2024), and the Emerging Artist Award at the Burnie Print Prize (2025). She is currently a finalist in the 2026 National Works on Paper exhibition.
