Alex Chadwick’s solo exhibition Beyond the Garden at Wild Canary explores what lingers beyond the gates of the garden.
Developed through fieldwork at Brookfield Gardens and the nearby Rafting Ground Reserve, where Moggill Creek flows, the exhibition reflects Chadwick’s engagement with the ecological and cultural richness of the area.
The collection brings audiences closer to the natural environments surrounding Brookfield Gardens, encouraging greater awareness of ecological restoration and protection. Works range from delicate collage to large expressionist paintings, connected through the landscapes and environments that inspired them.
Beyond the Garden considers the hidden qualities of the natural world — from the movement of wind to the quiet presence of the creek — and invites audiences to look and listen more closely.
